Eric Conveys An Emotion Welcome to Eric Conveys an Emotion. Glad you could make it. The concept here is simple, this is a humor-oriented interactive website. You request an emotion (or reasonable facsimile), and I will try and act it out for you. The frame on the left shows the currently filled emotions. The list in the right frame shows requests that are waiting to be filled. Sure, so some of these may not be emotions per se, we're just having fun here. So what are you waiting for?
More adventures are on the way. Or *are* they? April... Fools? I'm confused.
12.25.05 ~ Belated Happy Winter Solstice!
Did you all get your presents this year? I went to the mall and got mine...
There has been a great void of updates, which I will conveniently blame on work and my employer. If you want to see more updates, email them and tell them to give me more vacation and donuts! I do hope to update more in 2006 though, and oh yeah, get the request system back up and running.
In the meantime, hope you all have a safe and happy holiday, see you next year!
01.29.05 ~ The site is finally partially somewhatly back online(ly)! I
won't bore you with the details but the dedicated server and bandwidth that has powered this site for
the last several years is no more. I'm currently on the hunt for new hosting (thanks again to Rob at NetDojo for the interim hospitality). Some parts of the site are still
offline (requesting, store, forum and guestbook), but the emotions are back.
In the meantime, now might be the perfect time for a site refresh/redesign. This site hasn't changed
very much in terms of design and functionality over the years, and it really hasn't had to, but
it's always something I've been meaning to work on. So this is my short-term to do list: 1) Find new
hosting 2) Post the new adventures that I keep talking about but never have time to actually post 3) Redesign
entire site, front and back end.
I'm not sure which one of those three things will be the most difficult. Oh, and before I forget, thanks
to all the people who emailed during the downtime, I know I don't update as often as I used to but it's
nice to know people still care about this little site.
... That was so mushy.
10.31.04 ~ Whoa. OK Internet, we have a lot of things to talk
about, you and I. I know that I have been kind of distant lately, but baby let me explain. Firstly, I did not move to New
York after all. I know you didn't want a long distance relationship. So instead I moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area so
we can be closer. I know how you love to hang out and party in Silicon Valley. I now work for Yahoo!, you've met Yahoo! before.
Hm, I'm gonna stop the "Dear
Internet" angle here because it's runnin' out of steam and I gots stuff to talk about and nots a
lot of time and space to do it. 1) I've
been working at Yahoo! for the last six weeks or so. It's busy, but also fun and I really enjoy it there. 2) Happy Halloween! Even
though technically at the time of this posting, Halloween is already over. IRREGARDLESS. The picture at left is of a bunch of
fellow Yahoos who decided to print up last year's Mask of Doom en masse. Let me say it was quite a
scary sight. 3) Congrats to the 2004 WORLD CHAMPION BOSTON RED SOX. My boys! ::manly chest bump:: 4) Where are the updates?!
Work, moving and unpacking has been taking up the bulk of my time. However, over the course of the next three weeks, I'll be
putting out three new adventures. Including a repeat
guest starring
of the creators of a certain web site we love.
5) Am I done talking yet? Sheeeeesh.
08.10.04 ~ Well the Comicon was a blast this year again, it was great to see the sights and meet everyone. EVERYONE! I wasn't asked to autograph a girl's breast this year though, which breaks the streak that dates all the way back to ... 2003.
I'm running very short on time right now (and possibly moving to New York City next month), but just wanted to get a tiny update in and give you a tiny morsel of a couple of adventures (see right). Don't worry, you'll get the main course soon. In the meantime, take care of yourself... and each other.
07.18.04 ~ If anyone is planning on going to the San Diego Comicon International this week, be sure to stop
by the Flight Anthology booth at
booth
#1231. Them's some talented artists and you can buy their brand spankin' new first issue
there. I'll be sitting in and around that booth when I'm not wandering the convention center
trying to find nerds to punch in the face, so come say hello.
05.31.04 ~ Tumultuous! That is what things are like in the world of emotioneric.com.
The server went down for about 10 days, but things should be more stable now. And wonder of wonders, there is even an
emotion update today. But wait, there's more!
Oh, actually, that was it. There isn't any more. Things are kind of in a state of flux, so the update on me
will have to be postponed until next time. The next update won't take months and months though, so fear not. Just keep
the requests coming in. Ciao, baby
04.13.04 ~ I guess that was kind of a mean April Fool's joke,
huh? But like last year's, a lot of people still fell for it. But seriously now, a real
update will be happening next month. In May I'll fill you in a little more on what has been
going on lately (if you'd like to know).
04.01.04 ~ Updated! New emotions!
12.29.03 ~ WHERE ARE THE UPDATES?!!!111 ... oh wait, it's me. Hope all of you out there in
internetland are having happy holidays. I'm holidaying it up, but I'll be back in the '04 ready to ROCK IT DEF LEPPARD STYLE
(or whatever music you crazy kids listen to nowadays).
10.30.03 ~ Looking for a last minute Halloween mask? Scare and horrify everyone
with this grotesque mask. Just print and Dave
Coulier (Cut.It.Out.) and you're ready to go.
10.13.03 ~ The forums are back!
09.29.03 ~
New shirts are now available for your perusing and purchasing pleasure, partner. Next
up, ge$
emotions...
09.22.03 ~ There's a new adventure today, the New Pad. I'm busy working on the new t-shirt
order page and getting the forums back up and running, but I don't think you care. All you want are more
emotions. You all are animals! Animals I tell you!
09.05.03 ~ Hi there, the site was down since Saturday due to a
hard drive failure. It's easy to troubleshoot why things aren't working when you can hear the
hard drive slowly spinning and making clicking noises. I think some evil dolphins got to it.
All the new things (shirts, adventure) are still on the way, but they'll be postponed a week.
In the meantime, check out Creatures in
My Head or Penny Arcade if you
haven't already...
08.26.03 ~ Dear Internet, I have been very busy as of late,
I ho$
ignoring you. You know you're the only one I really care about. You make my heart all
a-pitte$
back later next week with a new adventure$
target="_blank"
href="/shirts/">t-shirts to order. Miss you.
Love,
08.05.03 ~ We have a winnah! Actually we have a few winners. There were alot of good entries in the cartoon/anime Eric contest, but Ryan Schmidt took the cake with his EmoEric rendition. He wins a free t-shirt, and actually his two images are going to be made into t-shirts as well. It's about time for a new t-shirt design. They could be available to order as early as next week.
There were actually three entries I was trying to decide between, and I figured I might as well put up one extra shirt to win. I'll leave it up to you to decide who wins. Roll over to the forums to see the two finalists and vote for your favorite one (you must register to vote, this is to make sure the voting is fair). The image with the most votes by next week will win a free t-shirt. You can also view all the contest entries in the forum.
And for the request contest, out of the 5,817 requests submitted in July, the person randomly picked to win a free t-shirt is ... Colin from Marblehead, Massachusetts! Well that was anti-climatic. I tried to make it more exciting by adding an exclamation mark. Did you see?
Well that does it for all the contests and New July Tuesdays. I'm tuckered out. I hope you enjoyed it. Updates will continue to occur, though not necessarily every Tuesday. But who knows? (Not me.)
07.29.03 ~ How now brown cow?
That doesn't have anything to do with any current news, but it's fun to say. There are some more new emotions for your eyeballs to see this week. Also, the T-shirt contest (see 07.08.03 entry below) is winding down, and I've decided to keep it open for a few extra days, until next Monday. I'll announce the winners next Tuesday for the cartoon and random request contests. Are you excited yet? I definitely know that I maybe am. See ya next week!
07.22.03 ~ The San Diego Comic-con this past weekend was a ridiculous amount of fun. I got to meet and see so many great people. I even got to chat briefly with the Matt Groening. I'll definitely be going back again next year.
As I've mentioned before, July 25th will be the 5th anniversary for "Eric Conveys an Emotion". When I first started it back then, I only intended it to be something fun to pass the time, for me and a few friends who knew about it. I think it still serves that purpose, just on a much larger scale now.
I tend to downplay the importance of this site, but truthfully, my life would probably be much different if it never existed. It was because of this site that I got my first job out of college and moved to California and met all the great people and friends I've met out here.
And in these five years I've had literally thousands of people email or come up to me, thanking me for
cheering them up when they were down, getting them laughing "to the point of tears", or just generally making them happy. By selling t-shirts and donating all the proceeds to children's hospitals, I've been able to help kids out in a way that I probably would not have been able to before.
I've received emails from English teachers in foreign countries who use it as a teaching tool, from parents and teachers who use it to aid children with autism and Asperger Syndrome, and a couple years ago I got a moving email from someone who was contemplating suicide, but (long story short) was sent the link here, and was grounded. The subject line of that email was "Thank you for saving my life".
Make no mistake, I have no delusions of grandeur, I'm acutely aware that in the bigger scheme of things, I'm generally nobody, and this is just a small, goofy website on the Internet. But I think for that, I'm glad.
07.15.03 ~ Y'know, I don't think I have that much to say this week, but that shouldn't stop you from checking out this week's adventure update, The Slot Machine, taken in good old Sin City. The place is so evil and fun all at the same time.
The art contest is still going on through July (see the entry below for details), and the San Diego Comic-con is this weekend. I'm hoping to meet Matt Groening, Joss Whedon, Kevin Smith, the Adult Swim guys, a bunch of webcomic people, and tons more people of whom I am a fan. Tons! If you're going and want to say hello, check out this thread in the forum.
That's it! Until next week when we shall meet again...
07.08.03 ~ New week = new emotions. Is fun, no? This July is somewhat significant sentimentally (say that three times fast) because on the 25th, this site will have been around for five years. My birthday is a few days after, and if the latest emotions are any indication, I have already begun my slow and steady descent into madness.
I figure a five year anniversary is as good a time as any to celebrate and have a contest, I don't think I've had one since the good old cube contest. There will be two ways to win. The first way is for all you artists out there. I get a lot of requests for "Cartoon Eric" or "Anime Eric", so send in your rendition of one of those and the one I like the most wins. I'll also post them in the forum so everyone else can judge for themselves. The second way to win is just to submit a request. I'll randomly choose one name out of the requests submitted for this month to be the winner (make sure you have a valid email so I can let you know if you win).
So what do you win? The prize for each of these is ... ::drumroll:: ... the respect and admiration of the internet community! No just kidding. The prize is an Intrigue T-shirt of your choice. You can choose from a baby doll or regular T-shirt, and if your size is available, you can even choose from a small number of fancy colored ones that I had made up for occasions such as these.
The contest(s) will run until the end of this July, tell your friends. Happy contesting!
07.01.03 ~ Welcome to the first week of July Updatey Madness! Y'know, when I said I would update every Tuesday in July, I didn't realize there were five Tuesdays this month. Oh well, I guess that just means more emotions and adventures.
This week also brings Fourth of July celebrations in America, where it's your patriotic duty to barbecue and watch fireworks. You don't want to be a Communist, do you? Because if I see you suspiciously not BBQing with your eyes looking groundward, I will report you to McCarthy so fast it will make your commie head spin.
Later this month, July 17-20, I'll be at the San Diego
Comic-con International. Yes, I am a nerd. If you're
going and you want to meet up or grab a shirt or something, leave a note in the forum and maybe we can all figure out a day and time. This will be
my first time at this convention, I think it will be fun.
Well, that does it for my words and pictures this week. See you next week with yet more new words and
pictures...
06.27.03 ~ OK, I'm
gonna try something out. For the month of July, I'm going to update the site every single week. Starting July 1,
every Tuesday there will be something new to look at here. Why Tuesday? Simple, because Strong Bad emails are on Mondays. See you Tuesday!
05.29.03 ~ The system is down... sorry bout that, the site was down
for the past couple weeks due to a hardware server crash, and me being on a road trip up the west
coast. If you sent an email or request in the last 14 or so days, I didn't receive it. The
internet ate it. The hardware was replaced though, and we're working on getting
everything back to normal now.
Please bear with the parts of the site that don't work normally right now, they'll get fixed up, and
I'll probably end up revamping the whole site after that...
05.07.03 ~ An emotion update today. More update text forthcoming...
04.02.03 ~ Hahaha ... That was funny. When I sat down to write that last entry I originally
had intended it to be something very believable, but as I kept writing it just kept getting more and more ridiculous and it
made me chuckle, so I kept going. I thought it would be obvious that it was just an April Fool's day joke, but the
emails I got proved me wrong. Some people gave me a wink and a nod, but I got alot of emails denouncing my newfound
megalomania, which was great. Surprisingly, I also got a few emails of congratulations and well wishes in my new
direction. I sometimes underestimate the amount of goodwill people have towards me because this site exists.
What I have really been doing these past few months is just relaaaxxing. I never took a break during summers in
college, and I started working full-time immediately after I graduated, so I haven't had a break in a long while. I've
really been enjoying these last few months of not working.
Now what's going on with the site? I'm still doing it, so you don't have
to worry about that. FOX cancelled my pilot ;) I'm gradually going to be updating the look and different
sections, I
think it's about time for a little makeover. I'm toying around with the idea of turning this 'news' section into a small
blog, just so you'll have something to read whenever emotions are slow. Let me know if that's something you'd want to read.
And finally, there's a new adventure, The Football
Game, in the Adventure Edition section. These are fun to do and people seem to like
them, so watch out for more in the future. This one in particular was really fun to do.
And now, this entry is finally over. Hurrah!
04.01.03 ~ Hi there, long time no see. I've been getting alot of email regarding the lack of updates to this site. Some people express concern and wonder if something bad has happened to me, some people simple demand updates regardless of how I'm doing.
Well, the reason I haven't been around much is because last winter I signed a TV and movie contract with Time Warner
Entertainment. I've been busy developing and shooting a pilot episode for TV that should appear in the fall on FOX. It
centers around a
bunch of 20-somethings in a post dot-com daze and it's tentatively titled "e-Motion". Seth Green and Brittany Murphy are co-starring and I think we have a really funny show on our hands, so check your local listings. I also have a small role in the new Matrix:Reloaded movie coming in May. The Wachowski Brothers found out I lived in the SF Bay Area when they were shooting in Oakland a few months back, and of course I would have to be insane to turn that down. I only have a couple lines, but they are pivotal to the plot, so I'm really excited about that.
So obviously, I doubt I'll have the
time to keep up with this little website. I hope you all understand. I've got location shoots and meetings and lunches all
sorts of stuff in the biz that I need to attend to so that my career stays on the fast track. You can keep sending email to
me if you'd like though. My assistant Wanda will read them all for me and make sure the important ones aren't deleted with
the
rest. Also, I feel that I should note that the proceeds from the emotioneric.com t-shirts will no longer be going to charity. My agent tells me that it's wiser to invest those funds in a new LA chapter of Scientology so that we can spread the word of L. Ron Hubbard to as many people as we possibly can. I've got to go now, we've got an early shoot time this morning.
Well, see you on the big screen! (And by 'you', I mean 'me)
11.23.02 ~ Today I'm unleashing a forum for all you good people out there. Hopefully you'll check it out and join in on good times that will be happening there. I'll try and interact as much as I can, and occasionally I'll ask for feedback on site stuff, such as what t-shirt design you'd like to see next.
Speaking of which, there are now hoodies (hooded sweatshirts, yo) available just in time for the holidays and winter weather. Let me tell you, these things are monstrously heavy, you should only use them if you like keeping warm. I'll be taking orders for these and the shirts until December 14th, to make sure they get to you by Christmas time.
Lastly, I added another adventure to the Adventure Edition section, there's actually a funny story behind that one, hey, maybe I'll talk about it in the forum.....
Have a happy turkey day!
10.18.02 ~ There's an emotion update today, interestingly enough, none of the new ones were taken in the U.S.. I've also added another little subsection, though you can only get to it from this page. It's called the Adventure Edition, it's just getting started and i'll be adding a few more later, but consider this a sneak preview.
This weekend I'm driving six hours to pick up the fresh boxes of t-shirts, so they'll be shipping soon. Get your order in now if you'd like to get in on this next shipment. Cheers...
9.13.02 ~
'ello mates, just a quick notice to any Londonites, the lunch will take place
at the New World Restaurant on Gerrard Place at 1pm this Sunday the 15th. See
you there....
9.04.02 ~ This
little update is mostly just to inform my friends who I haven't had to
time to contact, just in the last week did I decide to go to the UK for
most of September. I leave tomorrow. London,
Edinburgh and Dublin are the main stopping points, and when I get back to
the
states I'm stopping along the east coast for a week, so I won't be back
and in real communication until next month. Take care, everyone.
Oh, and anyone who's around London on September 15th, wanna meet up with
my friends and I for lunch or dinner? I don't know how this will work but
everything worked out great when I did this in Boston and Toyko so why not
now?
8.31.02 ~ Oops, it's been a while, hasn't it? Things for me in the past few months have been extremely hectic and simultaneously extremely relaxing, if you can believe it. Japan and Hawaii were awesome, I even got a little impromptu dinner together in Tokyo, just like the Boston lunch.
Lots of big decisions have been made in the last 48-72 hours. At the risk of turning this space into some sort of blog, I'll try and summarize quickly: I planned on moving out of my place in Mountain View to move 40 minutes north to San Francisco on September 1. But with less than a week until that date, I still hadn't found a place that met my price/location/space preferences (and vice versa). On the advice of a smart person who will go unnamed (thanks Mom), using the money I would have paid in overpriced Bay Area rent, I'm going to keep on traveling in September, I'll meet up with some friends who are also traveling right now in Scotland and the UK. I'll be like Cain in Kung Fu, I'll just wander the earth and get into adventures. Does anyone over there in the UK want to get into adventures with me?
Of course this means you'll have to wait another month for new emotions. But send in some United Kingdom-related emotion requests, hopefully I can come back with a few of those. To keep you occupied, I've opened up pre-orders for the T-shirts. Adult, kid and big sizes are available, as well as baby doll T's. I'll take pre-orders for all of September, and during that time, it's free shipping for everyone. It's the same popular design as before, and all proceeds still go to charity. A new design will probably appear around wintertime.
So that's my story, I'll see you back here next month, probably sporting a jolly fake British accent. If you want to check out some funny sites to pass the time, head over to HomeStarRunner, Exploding Dog and Diesel Sweeties. Cheerio, mates!
6.27.02 ~ Hi! First off I want to say thanks to the scores and scores of people who wrote in and sent cards and email wishing me well about my wisdom teeth and job and life in general, those were great to read. Everything is fine on my end, the surgery and recovery went perfect, and I'm still enjoying unemployment. In fact, this Saturday I'm flying to Japan to explore all the cool things that country has to offer. I'll be there and elsewhere for much of July, so if I don't get back to your emails or mix CDs (see below), that'll be why.
I guarantee an update and more t-shirts (still for charity) when I return, so have a great, relaxing summer, I know I will....
5.31.02 ~ OK. This month has been very busy. I took trips to Boston and Los Angeles, got laid off from my job, and in about 8 hours I am having all of my wisdom teeth removed.
The lunch in Boston was fun, a great group of people showed up and jollification was had by all. Thanks to Jen, Paul, Brian, Mary, Grace, Nikki, Mike, Alex, Matt, Duncan, Peter, Andrew, Peter C, Andy, Chris, Frances and Jane for the lunch. I should try and do more of these.
Last week I was laid off from my job as webmaster at Everdream. After 2 1/2 years I have alot of good memories and friends there but I'm not too broken up about it. I'm ready for some heavy-duty vacationing. And I'll have more time to work on some things I've been meaning to do for this site.
So send me some email or e-cards, I am currently accepting cheer, pity, wisdom teeth, stupidity teeth, job offers, congratulations, subpoenas, and monkey brains. Act now! Offer ends soon!
I shall return in a week or two, when my gums are not bleeding profusely from the holes where my wisdom teeth used to be. Cheers!
5.03.02 ~ Y'know, it seems like the people who visit this site are generally nice, jollified (I made that word up) people. So I'm gonna try a couple things here. I hope this isn't too long.
First thing, like alot of people, me likey music. But I'm tired of listening to the same CDs and mp3s over and over that I have at work. I always like it when people introduce me to good music I've never heard before. So I'm thinking, you wanna exchange mix CDs? Send me an audio CD of your favorite music and I'll return the favor. Or instead I can send a copy a short movie some friends and I made a couple years ago called The Christmas Club. It's a no-budget/horror/Saved by the Bell comedic spoof... I think. I'm not sure how to describe it, but look, I made a collage for your eyeballs! If you'd like to trade CDs here's the address.
Second thing, I'll be in Boston to visit friends in a couple weeks. If anyone in the area would like to join us for lunch on the weekend, you are more than welcome. We'll meet in front of the Abercrombie & Fitch at Harvard Square (where the elevators to the T let out) on 12:30pm, Saturday, May 18. The we'll head on down Dunster St and get our grub on at John Harvard's. Food, fun and friends, we can pretend to be a beer commercial! Should be good times, hope some of you can make it.
4.29.02 ~ Ok, ok, I know I said I would post an update a last week, but I've just been really busy. I was actually going to wait a little while longer, but you guys and gals are a very demanding bunch (as evidenced by emails and the guestbook), so here is a medium size update to tide you over. Next week may bring some new emotions also, but no guarantees (I've learned my lesson). I shall try my best. You know I love you, let's never fight again. As for the shirts, I am still working to get everything in order. Does anyone want mugs or mousepads or extra stuff like that too? Your friend Eric will take care of all your clothing and beverage containing needs.
4.15.02 ~ Oops, I waited til the last minute to do my taxes. I'll post the real update sometime this week. In the meantime, check out these graphics made by Ryan (who designed the first T-shirt). Which ones would you like to see next on a shirt? I'll put up a poll soon.
4.11.02 ~ OK, methinks there will be an update this weekend. I know there are some of you out there that check this site out like every day. This next update is dedicated to you. The little people. Or you could be big also. It's all good.
Here are some things to keep you busy. Andrew over in New Zealand made this variation on that "Bush or Chimp" picture, it's kinda neat. Meanwhile, J. Carlito made this page for your Palm Pilot that displays a random emotion whenever you sync it up (with AvantGo or whatever). Check it out here. Finally, I get several emails a day asking if there will be more shirts, I think the answer will be yes, after I finish auctioning off these last 5 or 6 Intrigue shirts I have left. It is getting to be T-shirt weather after all. Let me know which emotion you'd like to see on a shirt.
So that's it, take care, everyone.
2.24.02 ~ The VCSAfMHCTaS (see below) is rolling along. I'll make a page with more details on the whole shirt and charity thing. In the meantime, there are less than ten shirts left. Here's another sand color shirt for auction on eBay. Up and at them!
2.14.02 ~ Howdy Lovers, Happy Valentines Day. There's an update today, and what better way to say "I Heart U" than an emotion of Googley eyes or Finding dead body in trunk. Y'know, things we can all relate to.
I'll be putting a couple more shirts on auction in the next day or so. Keep your eyes and oranges peeled.
1.29.02 ~ The VCSAfMHCTaS (Variation Color Shirt Auction for My Hospital Charity Thing and Stuff) is going very well, thanks to all who have bid. Thanks also to the people who have emailed me with suggestions for squeezing the most out of the proceeds, and yet more thanks to those who have even sent in their own PS2 donations to the Lucile Packard Hospital. I've put up a couple more sand color shirts for auction, in size Large and Extra Large.
And look for an emotion update sometime this weekend.
1.22.02 ~ Wow. The sand color shirt auction is going very well. Thanks (or, big ups) to whoever wins that one, that's almost the price of one PS2 game all by itself. I put up a large forest green color shirt tonight, this color is pretty cool also. All for a good cause my friends, all for a good cause.
1.16.02 ~ I posted a few new emotions tonight, I'm thinking there will be more in about a couple weeks.
I put up a shirt for auction on Ebay, it's a fancy sand color (ooooh) with the same "intrigue" graphic, in size L or XL, you choose. I have a few of these sand color shirts, less than a few green ones, and even fewer light blue ones, about 10 variation shirts altogether.
So here's the deal, all the money from these auctioned shirts will be going to the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. I volunteer there in the Forever Young Zone, which is a recreation room for patients and their siblings. We recently got a Playstation 2 in the FYZ, but, all of our PS2 games were stolen before anyone could even play them. So, with the proceeds from these shirts, Ima gonna try and buy a few PS2 games so the kids can play all these new fancy schmancy games. In my day, we had 8-bit Nintendo and we liked it. If it'll help, I'll even autograph your shirt (but if it won't help, then you can be Eric scribble-free...) Coo? So what are you waiting for?
1.08.02 ~ Ahoy! Happy New Year to ye all -- just a
quick note, I'm aiming for an update this weekend, your pleas have not fallen on deaf ears (well, sort of). I
have some interesting ideas for this site for 2002, so keep watching. Cheers..
10.28.01 ~ No, I'm not dead. Merely, sleeping. A bunch of new emotions today, check 'em out. Also, the shirts have been selling well, get one today before they're gone, all the proceeds go to charity. See ya soon...
9.11.01 ~ You know what's up. To donate blood, call
1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543), or visit http://www.redcross.org/donate/give/. To donate money for the victims, call 1-800-HELP-NOW (1-800-435-7669) or visit http://www.redcross.org/donate/donate.html.
8.25.01 ~ I caved in and updated the awards page. I don't recommend you visit though unless you are extremely bored/curious.
8.11.01 ~ 6 new emotions today - a couple more soon, and I'll be making a few tweaks to the shirt page and awards page today or tomorrow...
6.28.01 ~ Hello boys and girls, there is an emotion update today, and emotion T-shirts are now on sale. Click on the shirt below for more info and the order pages.
6.14.01 ~ Next week I'll start taking pre-orders for the t-shirts, and the price is gonna be pretty cheap at first, so get in while the gettin's good. There will also be an update next week. peace out, homies.
5.13.01 ~ Yes, an update today. Sorry for the long delay, I was busy .. living and stuff. You know how it goes.
And speaking of living, basic tenets of living include food, clothing and shelter. Well, very soon I can provide one-thirds of that, with Emotion Eric T-Shirts (I segue so smoothly). I'm still completing all the logistics behind it, but you can see a sneak preview.
4.04.01 ~
OK, 1100 votes in about a week for the last poll, that's not bad. One more poll for you guys, what kind of shirt is right for you? Thanks much, I appreciate your input...
3.29.01 ~
Howdy folks, there's an emotion update today. Go check em out. And look, a poll box below that takes up alot of space. Every now and then people email me asking for T-shirts, so I just wanna see what kind of demand there is. If you need more information, they will look way cool (trust me) and the proceeds go to charity.
2.27.01 ~
A New York flavor update today, with a special cameo by Robot Frank of robotfrank.com
2.12.01 ~
Update today with more on the way. Most of the requesters in this update are from New York or New Jersey, and coincidentally I'll be in NYC this weekend, so if you have any New York related requests, send em in.
2.4.01 ~
Hello hello, yes it's been a while since the last update. I guarantee one will happen this week though. Gar-on-tee.
In other news, check out the current issues of Shift and Yahoo Internet Life magazines. I'm in them or something.
Also, yesterday something weird happened, I got a random phone call from two girls in Denmark. They got my home number somehow (I'm scared to think how) and called to say how much they liked my website and how they are in some sort of fan club. We chatted for like 15 minutes, it must have cost them $50. It was surreal. It was also other big fancy words. Anyway, so hello Lina and Sisse from Denmark.
12.20.00 ~
Happy Holidays, there are three new emotions today, more pictures from the cube contest, and a cube contest winner! Exciting stuff that warrants an exclamation point. Maybe. !
I'm flying back to Florida in a few hours and I'll be gone for a couple weeks, but when I get back I am going to start working on the site redesign I've been thinking and talking about all these months. Things will look a little cleaner, there will be a new backend database, and hopefully new features like e-cards and games will pop up. Look for all of this stuff around spring.
Don't forget to leave cookies and a palm pilot for santa.
11.09.00 ~
A small current events update today. Check it out. Yep, I received a Florida absentee ballot but did not send it out. For those of you who don't know, or live in different countries, the next US president is currently going to be decided by the number of votes in the state of Florida, where I used to live. Not that I care though, after all, I'm young and apathetic, and my vote doesn't really matter. Yeah.....
If any of you are curious as to what the ballot looks like, here is a fuzzy snapshot - you can see where you vote for Bush or Gore in the lower left hand corner.
I'll have new emotions this weekend, along with new pictures of submissions to the cube contest.
10.10.00 ~
Yeesh. I need to start slackin off on the real world jobby job so I can have more time to play with emotions. Four new emotions today, more later, and hopefully soon I'll be able to redo the whole site front and back end and make it all funky fresh.
I added a little more room to the cube contest window so hopefully the bottom nav arrows won't be cut off on some screens. I've gotten more stuff lately and will be posting pictures of them soon, don't forget contest ends December 1st.
8.28.00 ~
Yes, it's been a while. Living in the real world keeps me very busy. Just a couple new emotions today. And there are now pictures of submissions for the cube contest. Some of the stuff is interesting, you should check it out.
Hey I'll be chillin in Boston, Rhode Island and Montreal for Labor Day weekend, who's with me?
7.09.00 ~
Three more emotions today, more in the works. I also took pictures of all the cube contest stuff and will be putting those up soon. The contest is still going on, btw.
6.18.00 ~ Four new emotions today. I'm just now starting to get a handle on the requests, to everyone who's been asking, updates should come at a mildly brisker pace now.
The cube contest (as described below) is still going on - but pitifully. I got a few things when it started, but then this site went down for three weeks and it's been nada since. cmon people, the prize is fifty bucks of my boss's money, how can you go wrong.
And finally, a couple pictures from the E3 convention in LA last month. It was a fun place to walk around.
6.05.00 ~ It's back. emotioneric.com was down for a couple weeks
due to bad service from Network Solutions, and having the server being shipped across the country to it's new home in
sunny California.
5.02.00 ~
Shameless ..... NO MORE.
The little cube contest below is now actually a contest. My boss has foolishly volunteered to award fifty bones to the winner - that's right, fitty whole dollars. Go buy yourself a tank of gas or something. So send some crap in, the address and "details" are below.
And oh yeah, this site will be down for a couple days sometime at the end of the week.
And speaking of work, my company moved locations from Mountain View to Fremont (California). So in honor of that, I'm holding a contest. My cubicle needs your help. It's nice and big and empty. It needs a little personality. So, I'm encouraging all of you out there in internet world land to send something in. Trinkets, knick-knacks, posters, dvd players... yknow, the usual. Ok, you don't win anything so it's not really a contest, but I'll take a picture of my cube with all the stuff sent in and post it here for the world to see.
And still speaking of work, Everdream is a lookin' for good people. If you think you're a smart <insert gender here> who wants to work at a dynamic, pre-IPO startup company in Silicon Valley -- did I get all the buzz words in there? -- check out our jobs page, we are looking for all sorts of people (just look at me).
If you'd like to send stuff to my cube, the address is:
Eric's Excellent Cube Adventure
3.20.00 ~
To those people coming from ZDTV Internet Tonight - I am not nearly as buffoonish as I appeared. Well, ok - maybe nearly.
3.20.00 ~
New emotions down below, matey. Arr.
3.15.00 ~
This site seems to be attracting alot of attention from those limeys across the pond - last week it was an AOL UK hot site, on BBC2 Radio with Steve Wright, in some newspaper called The Independent, and on a TV show, So Graham Norton. Someone told me that Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) was on the show and saw my site. Neato.
British slang is funny.
3.01.00 ~ oof. I went snowboarding for the first time this past weekend. It was fun. I hurt.
1.31.00 ~ Well, I am now a real-live high cost of living Californian. It's strange here, there are lots of... cars.... and.... mountains. And over here it's like people are in some sort of time warp, everything happens three hours behind what it did in Florida. Strange. A couple new emotions today, and a few more probably by the end of the week. Another somewhat interesting thing is that I'll be in the Feb 11th pull-out internet issue of Entertainment Weekly. Pick it up if only to see me get ridiculed on a national level. No more of this county-wide stuff for me, I'm goin for the gold, baby!
1.08.00 ~ Greetings True Believers - I beat up 1999 threw it into the dumpster in back and took it's lunch money. Y2K is the way2go. Anyway, just a little update, I've accepted a job offer in California by startup Everdream and I'm moving out there this week (does anyone out there know of a good place to live around Mountain View?) Emotions will be forthcoming as events transpire. Stay tuned, same bat stuff, same bat junk!
12.20.99 ~ I'm all graduamated now. Thanks to everyone who sent in congratulations and well wishes. I'm busy closing up unfinished business here in Gainesville, but once things slow down after Christmas, I'm gonna write back to each of you personally. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Spay and Neuter your pets!
12.13.99 ~ One more final and 6 more days, and I will no longer be a college student. I wonder what my excuse for this site will be then? Oh well, there is an emotion update today, check 'em out....
12.08.99 ~ I added an annoying popup and guestbook to the site. Trying for an emotion update this weekend (even though its finals week)
12.02.99 ~ There's a new address for this site now.
Big thanks to all the people who have been emailing and requesting with nice things to say. In fact, so many people have been visiting as of late, that the server is getting a little kranky. If anyone would like to host this site, I'm all ears.
I have lots of plans in mind for this site and there will be lots of new features and emotions coming in the next month or two, so stay tuned...
11.29.99 ~ Hope everyone gorged well and had a happy thanksgiving.
11.24.99 ~ Wow, listed in USA Today, who woulda thunk it.
11.21.99 ~ Added a few new emotions and a couple new awards. I think this main page is going to look different soon.
11.15.99 ~ I added a few new requests today. Hope to get some new emotions in sometime this week...
10.25.99 ~ Happy Halloween...
10.21.99 ~ There is now an easier to remember URL for this site, http://get.to/emotion
10.18.99 ~ A small emotion update today. I am angry at the umpires calling the Red Sox - Yankees ALCS game.
10.14.99 ~ I'm hoping I can get around to some new emotions this weekend. Eric is busy busy. Gettin busy?
10.1.99 ~ The problem that some IE5 users have with not seeing the left frame correctly boggles my mind. If you are using IE5 and can't see the list of emotions on the left, click here
9.29.99 ~ This morning I went to work, and in the afternoon went to the first day of a career fair here at school. When I came home, there was a pleasant surprise on my answering machine. I just love it when prisoners call me collect... (120k wav file)
9.27.99 ~ Finally the redesign of the site I've been working on is finished. Big thanks to my pal Tony for helping to make a good script to automatically process the incoming requests. What do you think of the new look? I've been thinking about using this little portion of the site to lay out some anecdotes, because strange things happen to me, and I want to fill your brain with even more useless information than you could ever need.
